Digital Exposure Reduction

Selective Handling and Assessment of Digital Exposure

You are not invisible.
But you can be harder to find.

SHADE reduces how easily public information can be connected to your private life — through analyst-led removal, strategic dilution, and suppression of the pathways that make sensitive facts discoverable.

Data deletion is a starting point. It is not a strategy.

A growing category of automated services promises to remove your information from data broker databases. Some of it works, some of the time. But automated tools are increasingly easy for brokers to detect and circumvent — and removal alone addresses only one dimension of the problem. Much of the information that creates exposure cannot be removed at all. It lives in public records, archival sources, and databases that honor no deletion request.

SHADE operates differently. Every engagement is analyst-led — a practitioner who understands the specific pathways connecting your public identity to your private life, and who applies judgment that no automated system can replicate. Where removal is possible, we pursue it. Where it is not, we work to dilute sensitive facts within a larger landscape of accurate, non-sensitive information, and to suppress the connective tissue that makes a sensitive detail discoverable in the first place.

The goal is not to make you disappear. It is to make the specific connections that create exposure harder to find, harder to confirm, and harder to act on.

Three Pillars of Exposure Reduction

SHADE's approach is built on a doctrine that recognizes exposure as a connective problem, not simply a data problem. Reduction requires all three pillars working in concert.

Pillar 01

Remove

Where eligible listings exist — data broker profiles, inaccurate associations, removable records — we pursue authorized removal through direct engagement and established legal mechanisms. Analyst-verified: we confirm what actually changed, not what was requested.

Pillar 02

Dilute

For information that cannot be removed, we reduce its signal value by adding true, non-sensitive context that makes sensitive facts harder to act on. Every dilution measure is accurate, authorized, and defensible.

Pillar 03

Suppress

Exposure is rarely a single fact — it is the connection between facts. SHADE identifies and disrupts the pathways that link public identifiers to private details, reducing the connective tissue that transforms routine data into actionable intelligence.

The SHADE Engagement

A standard SHADE engagement proceeds through six defined phases. Clients may commission a standalone baseline review without proceeding to implementation, or engage for the full cycle.

Phase 01 Intake & Authorization
A private conversation to agree priorities, covered persons, scope, and authority. SHADE does not begin collection or assessment until engagement parameters are defined and authorized.
Scope definition — which attributes, identifiers, and information categories are included
Principal authorization for collection and action on the principal's behalf
Secure communication protocol established for the duration of the engagement
Phase 02 Baseline Assessment
A documented picture of what can be found, how sensitive facts connect to the principal's identity, and which pathways present the highest priority for intervention. The baseline drives all subsequent work.
Exposure mapping across data brokers, public records, and discoverable sources
Connectivity analysis identifying how public information links to private details
Priority ranking by severity, addressability, and stated concerns

Available as a standalone engagement for principals who want a documented exposure picture before committing to implementation.

Phase 03 Intervention Planning
A proposed action plan with specific interventions, associated tradeoffs, and explicit approval choices. No changes are made without the principal's review and authorization.
Removal candidates — eligible listings where authorized removal is viable
Dilution strategy — proposed additions of accurate, non-sensitive context
Suppression actions — proposed restructuring of identifiers and discoverable associations
Phase 04 Implementation
Approved changes are executed. A running register of completed and open actions is maintained throughout, including provider response status and any items that remain pending.
Removal requests submitted and tracked to confirmed compliance — not estimated
Profile and identifier modifications as authorized
Correction of inaccurate associations that create false connections

Typical implementation timelines are four to six weeks. Provider response times and scope can affect the schedule.

Phase 05 Independent Retest
A comparison conducted independently from implementation work, under defined conditions. The retest confirms what changed, documents what remains, and verifies that necessary contact routes and public presence are intact.
Structured discoverability testing against baseline conditions
Continuity verification — agreed public-facing information remains accessible
Findings documented by source and condition, not as aggregate counts
Phase 06 Closing Briefing & Follow-Up
A structured review of results, remaining exposure, open items, and ongoing maintenance responsibilities. Evidence delivered through an agreed protected channel.
Before-and-after evidence report with source documentation
Maintenance guide covering re-exposure risks and monitoring responsibilities
Periodic verification available at agreed intervals

“Automated deletion tools are increasingly easy for data brokers to detect and circumvent. More importantly, they address only what can be removed. A practitioner understands that what cannot be removed must be diluted — and that the real exposure is rarely a single fact, but the connection between facts.”

Visibility creates exposure. Exposure, left unmanaged, becomes vulnerability.

SHADE is designed for individuals whose professional or public activity creates unwanted connections between their identity and their private life. The concern is not privacy in the abstract — it is the specific, identifiable risk that a residence becomes locatable, a family relationship becomes discoverable, or a pattern becomes predictable to someone with an interest in knowing it.

What these principals share is a level of visibility that makes their digital footprint not just a personal matter, but a security consideration — and an understanding that standard tools are not adequate to the exposure conditions they face.

Senior Executives C-suite and board-level individuals whose public identity creates connective pathways to home addresses, family members, and personal contact routes they have not chosen to disclose.
Professional Athletes & Public Figures Individuals whose public visibility generates significant data broker activity and whose private details are actively sought by people whose interest is not always benign.
Founders & Business Owners Principals for whom business records, regulatory filings, and professional network data create exposure conditions that extend into their personal lives in ways they did not anticipate.
Principals Advised to Engage Individuals who have completed a Strategic Exposure Assessment and have been advised that their information exposure warrants dedicated reduction work.

Every engagement begins with a private conversation about what concerns you.

SHADE does not publish pricing or process detail publicly. The scope of any engagement is determined by the principal's circumstances, the nature and extent of their exposure, and the specific connections that require intervention. What every engagement shares is that it begins confidentially, proceeds with complete discretion, and is reviewed by principals only.

Analyst-Led

Every SHADE engagement is conducted by a practitioner, not an automated system. The judgment required to assess exposure conditions and implement effective reduction cannot be replicated by software.

Authorized & Accurate

SHADE works only within what is true and defensible. We do not fabricate credentials, create false records, or use techniques that could not withstand scrutiny. Every action is accurate, authorized, and documented.

Integrated or Standalone

SHADE can be engaged independently or as an implementation of information-related findings from a Strategic Exposure Assessment. Principals with existing Shadow Sciences engagements may add SHADE under a single advisory relationship.

Confidentiality

All SHADE engagements are conducted under confidentiality from the initial inquiry forward. Inquiries do not create obligations and are never shared beyond the principals of Shadow Sciences Group.
